About Subtiltee

Hi, I'm Alim — a solo developer who learns languages with subtitles.

Every tool on this site exists because I needed it first. Subtiltee isn't a company with a content team — it's one person building, testing, and answering every support email.

The language part

I'm French, I speak English and Spanish, and my family is Vietnamese — a language I grew up hearing but never properly learned. I'm currently relearning it, the same way I improved my English and Spanish: watching series with subtitles, mining sentences into Anki cards, and reviewing them daily.

That method has one boring bottleneck: you need the subtitle files. And streaming platforms don't give them to you.

Why these tools exist

Before building anything, I extracted subtitles by hand: DevTools open, digging through network requests mid-episode. On some platforms it's merely tedious. On Disney+ it's genuinely painful — subtitles arrive as dozens of timed fragments you have to find, download, and merge yourself. Doing that for a 20-episode season kills the motivation you need for actual studying.

So I automated my own workflow, then polished it enough to share. That's still how everything here gets built: I am the first user of every feature, on the same streaming accounts and the same Anki decks as you. When a guide on this site says "the Disney+ forced-narrative track looks nearly empty", it's because I downloaded that file and stared at it wondering where my dialogue went.

How I run this

I love building software, and I'm trying to make a living from it the honest way: quality tools that solve a real problem, free tiers that are actually useful, and customer support done personally and carefully — when you email, it's me who reads it and me who fixes the bug.

No growth hacks, no dark patterns, no data resale. The extensions read what your browser already displays, process locally whenever possible, and I document their limitations as openly as their features.

What I've built

  • Subtiltee

The flagship: turn Netflix into a language lab — interactive dictation, dual subtitles, and exercises built from what you watch.

  • Subtitle Downloader

Save subtitle tracks from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, HBO Max, and YouTube as SRT, VTT, or TXT — including whole seasons at once.

  • EasyDualSub

Two subtitle languages on screen at the same time, on your favorite streaming platforms.

  • VerbatimSubs

AI live subtitles that match the audio exactly — when the platform's own subtitles are dubtitles or missing.

  • PowerInput

A smart writing assistant in any text field — rewrite, translate, and fix tone without leaving the page.

  • Private AI Translators

Local-AI translation for WhatsApp, Discord, and Reddit — your messages never leave your machine.
