How it works

Three steps to capture subtitles from any course.

1

Open your lesson

Play the course video and turn on its captions, just like you normally would.

2

Enable Universal mode

Grant the one-time, per-site permission so the extension can detect the subtitle track.

3

Download & export

Pick your format (SRT, VTT, TXT) and save the captions or transcript to your device.

Extension vs Alternatives

Most guides tell you to use a website or scripts. Here's why a browser extension beats them for privacy, speed and reliability.

Online Course Subtitles FAQ

Can I download subtitles from online courses?

Yes. Universal mode is widely used to save captions from course and e-learning platforms (creative courses, trading, photography, music production, professional certifications, university LMS). In practice it succeeds on these almost every time.

My course site isn't officially listed — will it still work?

Most likely. Universal mode is our catch-all method for unsupported sites: if the player renders captions, the extension can usually capture them. If one doesn't work, let us know and we'll look into it.

Is this allowed?

The extension only reads the subtitle data your browser already receives to show captions on screen — it works entirely on your machine and doesn't touch the platform's servers or your account. Use the downloaded subtitles for your own personal study, in line with each platform's terms.
