VerbatimSubs Terms of Service

1. The Service

VerbatimSubs is a browser extension that generates zero-latency, verbatim AI subtitles for supported streaming platforms, with optional AI translation. The Service is a subtitle-generation tool. It does not host, provide, or grant access to any copyrighted video content; you must have lawful access to the content you watch through your own accounts and subscriptions.

2. Accounts & Subscriptions

Certain features require an account and a paid subscription. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Subscriptions are billed through Stripe according to the plan you select, and renew automatically until cancelled. You may cancel at any time from your account or billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Share, resell, or redistribute your subscription or account access.
• Abuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to circumvent the Service or its usage limits.
• Use the Service to infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of the terms of the streaming platforms you use it on.

We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that violate these Terms or engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior.

4. AI-Generated Content

Subtitles produced by the Service are generated automatically by speech-to-text and language-model technology. While we aim for high accuracy, AI-generated transcriptions and translations may contain errors and are provided "as is" without any warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for how you rely on the generated output.

5. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how audio, subtitle text, and account data are processed — including the cloud and local (Ollama) processing modes.

6. Intellectual Property

The VerbatimSubs extension, website, branding, and underlying software are and remain our property. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the Service, only a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it in accordance with these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every streaming platform or configuration at all times.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
